Rimrock Marathon
"Dr. Christianson saved the day for me this year. I signed up to run the Rimrock Marathon on November 13th which was my 30th birthday! After running 4 half marathons this was to be my first full marathon attempt. I signed up for this race the previous year as well but was sidelined with a knee injury. This year I was determined to run it, but as usual an injury popped up at the last minute. While running "The Other Half" in Moab in October I felt a twinge in my right knee which progressed to outright pain after a couple of miles and then eventually became so bad that I could barely walk! Since that course is a point to point I ended up walking the last 8 miles with an ice pack bandaged to my knee which created it's own set of muscle problems to compound the knee injury. With only 4 weeks and a heavy training schedule left before the Rimrock I wasn't content going to my normal orthopedic doctors and physical therapists because I knew I would just get a line about cutting my training and doing a bunch of strengthening and stretching exercises... the same old ones. So I asked my PT for a recommendation for a sports massage therapist, or someone who might be able to actually put their hands on my knee and help quick! Dr. Christianson came highly recommended by my PT. He diagnosed me with IT band syndrome and performed ART on the offending muscle groups 2-3 times a week. This active manipulation in addition to a reduced training plan and some stretching he recommended allowed me to finish the Rimrock Marathon in 5:13, a full 17 minutes under my goal pace! I really don't think I could have accomplished this recovery in such a short time with stretching, rest, and Ibuprofen alone, the ART therapy was the key to getting my knee pain under control quickly. The sessions hurt a tiny bit since the muscles were incredibly sore, but it's the kind of pain where you absolutely know that good things are happening. I would recommend this technique in general and Dr. Christianson in particular for all of your muscle related injuries. I have never experienced such fast and obvious results before. Thanks Dr. C!!"

Sports Injuries"My name is Kelly Regimbal, and I am a student-athlete at Mesa State College. Last year, I had shoulder pain from playing volleyball. I tried doing rehab for it in the athletic training room at Mesa State, but nothing seemed to help. I was recommended to Dr. Christianson by one of my teammates who had similar problems. After a few months of Active Release Treatment with Dr. Christianson, I no longer had pain in my shoulder. I went in twice a week, and each treatment lessened the pain. I was able to be back on the court in no time. Even though many believe A.R.T. to be painful, I had no pain with each treatment. Overall, A.R.T. has been the most helpful factor of my pain relief, and I would recommend anybody to Dr. Christianson with similar problems. It would, however, be helpful and convenient if these services were located closer to campus for easier accessibility."

Running InjuriesI am an active runner and marathoner. About six months ago in November of 2010, I began to feel severe pain on the outside of my left knee that was shooting up my left IT Band. For weeks the pain prevented me from ever going over two miles. Over the course of the first two months, I visited with a family doctor, a sports medicine physician, and two physical therapists. All of their advice and homework exercises were focused on "strengthening the glutes" and using a foam roller.

In the third month I began to take my condition very serious as I wanted to make goals for various 2011 marathon options. I began to work very hard and would religiously go to the track 2-3 times a week to work on this problem with the exercises I was given. Their help was good but, at least for me, it just wasn't enough as the pain persisted and my return to longer runs was just not happening. I felt very frustrated and was thinking, "With years of science and technology, how could I be the only one that is not seeing the expected results?" and also, "We're in 2011 and there just has to be more ways out there to fix this." Well, there was but I just didn't know about it yet.

In the fifth month or so, I still wasn't getting better and my frustration turned into a desperate need to find a solution. I began searching the internet and came across youtube videos that showed various treatments for ITB Syndrome. One of them was Active Release Technique (ART). I was a little surprised that I had not yet heard of ART. After watching a few of those clips, I was convinced that I had to give ART a try. I quickly Googled ART and found there was luckily one Chiropractor in my city of Grand Junction, CO that was a certified ART provider, Dr. Bryce Christianson. I immediately called and set up an appointment.

In just three treatments by Dr. Christianson, I've now gone from those dreaded two miles with-pain to eight miles without-pain. That's a 400% improvement in just three visits. I'm not yet going to say I'm fully healed and out of the woods, but I will say that I'm surely on my way and that Dr. Christiansen's ART is working.

Since I've been receiving ART treatments, I've read that ART is a growing solution that's producing real and quicker results for problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. If you have any of those problems then you really need to consider giving ART a try. I also found it was even highlighted in Runner's World magazine. Here is the link:

Foot PainI love Friday mornings, waking up, stretching and realizing my weekend will soon begin.  As I lay snuggled deeply in my covers I plan my activities for the weekend which usually means answering the question "Where am I going to hike this weekend?"  and somewhere in all my adventures I make time for quilting, my other favorite hobby.  This Friday morning I woke up in pain.  I had battling tension in my neck and shoulders all week and felt frustrated that I hurt so much.  I was sure I would be doing a whole bunch of nothing for this weekend.  Finally, I made a plea to Dr. Christianson for any appointment he had available.  I'm truly amazed that I went from feeling like I couldn't move, afraid that if I did I would hurt even more, to feeling like my weekend was gonna rock.  By Friday afternoon I found myself enjoying the Gunnison Bluffs, lying on a large rock with a great view of the river planning my next hike.

On Sunday morning I took off with a friend for Unaweep Canyon,  we hiked along the creek for awhile and found a game trail that took us  to the top of the cliff.  This required me to use my upper body strength to climb both up the cliff and back down, I'm sure the Big Horn Sheep are much more graceful at this then I.  As I enjoyed the beautiful view I realized that on this day it was Dr. Christianson who allowed me to be standing where I was.  Dr. Christianson has never sent me out of his office without asking how I feel and thanks to ART I'm back on my feet quicker then any treatment I've ever experienced before.

Shoulder Pain"My name is Devin Florez and for a year Dr. Bryce Christianson has been my only relief for moderate tendonitis. I am a college athlete and tendinitis has been a major issue in my life. With Dr. Christianson’s Active Release Therapy (A.R.T.) he has brought me comfort and has kept me going in my volleyball career. He has also done my chiropractic work and I appreciate the time and effort he takes in my personal health. Other chiropractors I have been to don’t take the time to get to know their patients like Bryce, and because of his passion for his career he is the only chiropractor and therapist I use. He is my go to doctor when I have an issue and he has been a beneficial factor with my health. I have recommended him too many other athletes and friends who are in search of a "

"I have had a hurt back for 3 years. I've seen many different chiropractors. I've been to acupuncture, massage therapy, and physical therapy. Since I met Dr. Christianson I feel that I am completely cared for. Also for the first time I feel like I have a real chance to heal completely. His knowledge is beyond more chiropractors. I recommend him to anybody that has a muscle problem. I'm so glad I found him. It's been a long journey."

"I was having trouble with my right leg and hip for over 5 years. While I was in Boise Idaho several months ago, I went to the race my daughter and son in law participated in. I was walking around and noticed there were people doing massages, and checking peoples backs. Well, I talked to this Dr. and he worked on me. I mentioned, wow, if I lived here I would set up and appointed. Well, in a few days after I arrived back in Grand Junction, he sent me Bryce's Phone number. I immediately called and set up an appointment Bryce has done wonders for me over the past three months. He worked on my leg and hip, and I can now drive about 3 hours without the pain and he has also helped me with my upper back. He is so gentle and talks to me as to what he is going to do. He has also given me new exercises to do to help stretch and even strengthen.

Back PainYes that is me, Gary Ambrosier throwing the football. I won 1st place with that lovely shot in my age group. The Senior games are wonderful, as it is really heart warming to see people older than me, still enjoying and sharing their time with these events. I only wish more people would get involved and then we would have a healthy world to live in, maybe even peace and harmony."

"I began seeing Dr. Christianson for chronic neck and back pain. I had seen other chiropractors in the past and I felt good immediately after treatment, but never achieved any long term relief. After my initial consultation I decided I would ask if Dr. Christianson at my next visit if he could help with my carpal tunnel issues. I really believed surgery and a wrist brace were my only options. I distinctly remember the smile on his face when I asked if there was anything besides surgery to help with the severe numbness and pain I was having. I am the one smiling now! The pain and numbness is 90% better than when I started and the improvement was rapid. Dr. Christianson taught me the skills I needed to help myself heal in addition to performing ART during my office visits. I notice a significant difference in how I feel when I keep up with my ART techniques at work and at home. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Christianson and for ART. Both have made a positive impact on my overall health and well being."

"Hello my name is Melissa and I have worked at a computer for several years. I didn't notice any real pain until recently. My pain was sensitivity to cold, pain in my wrists and thumb area. I found through my present employer someone who practices ARTI was skeptical at first but after 5 weeks of sessions I feel 95% better. The key is to keep your appointments and to do your exercises that are given to you. I would recommend Dr. Christianson to anyone who is suffering with Carpal Tunnel problems and does not want to resort to surgery."

"I met Dr. Bryce Christianson by accident…literally!

One morning on my way to work, I was stopped at a stop light and was hit from behind by a woman who wasn’t paying attention to traffic. She was traveling at about 40 m.p.h. at the point of impact, which caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me, and then that driver hit the car in front of him. The collision was significant enough to total my vehicle and I was really shaken up, but I assumed since I had no cuts or visible trauma I was probably fine, so I chose not to go see a physician.

Over the course of the next four weeks, instead of getting better, I felt increasingly worse. I have always been one of those people who choose to remain in denial about pain and discomfort, so I rationalized with myself that it would just take some time to “get back to normal”. I had obviously expected a little soreness and stiffness following the accident, but it progressed to affect every aspect of my life. I found that I couldn’t get comfortable at my desk or in my car or even on the couch. I was waking up a dozen times a night to adjust the position of my back and neck and hips. I had headaches that would last for days, regardless of the ibuprofen I was taking. I would be so stiff in the mornings when I got out of bed, I couldn’t move well until I had stood in a hot shower for 30 minutes and warmed my muscles up. I couldn’t play softball, I couldn’t deliver the material my clients needed at work, I couldn’t mow my lawn, vacuum the floor, or turn my head enough to check my blind spot while driving. Moreover, I found myself emotionally exhausted due to all the physical stress and anxiety caused by my injuries. By the end of the day, I felt like I couldn’t cope with small everyday problems. Eventually, I became sick and tired of being sick and tired.

A lady I work with told me about Dr. Christianson, and how he had helped her whole family. I was so fed up with all the pain, I gave in. I called and got an appointment the same day. I have to say, after the first visit I felt reassured that he was the person who could put me on the right track to getting healthy again. After my initial evaluation, I was shocked and a little emotional to see how injured I truly was. It’s difficult to look at the x-rays and diagrams of a “normal” human structure next to one’s own diagnostics which look so completely in contrast. Dr. Bryce worked with me on all levels of healing from the inside out starting with nutrition (rather, my lack thereof), to muscular and skeletal physical therapy.

It has been almost 5 weeks since I began seeing Dr. Bryce. I have noticed such a change in my physical and emotional health. I am sleeping better, but moreover, I am resting as I sleep. The headaches are minimal and further between. I can get out of bed, drive for long periods, and mop my floors again, (darn it!). I have more energy at the end of every day, which means I cook more health-conscious dinners instead of ordering take-out. Dr. Bryce recommended that I do special stretches and go for more walks, and by doing that my flexibility has increased significantly. Since I’m not in as much pain lately, I have more patience in the evening, which means I can help my son with tenth grade math, (darn it!). Dr. Christianson has helped me get back to the point where I can do the things I have to do, even if they are things I don’t want to do!

With the chiropractic help I have received, thankfully my body is healing but just as importantly, I appreciate the peace of mind I have knowing that everything we are working for together is non-chemical and non-invasive. I know my whole system is safely healing while my bones and muscles are too!"

Mandy BarnesI had chronic pain in my feet for years due to Plantar Fasciitis.  I ended up having surgery on both but still had trouble to where I could hardly walk by the end of the day.  I began receiving care from Dr. Christianson and felt relief after only a few visits.  His techniques prove to be what works best for me.  I highly recommend him if you have chronic pain or are recovering from an injury!
